This is the best PM site. It helps me in willingly suspending my disbelief that PM is fiction. For me PM Pail Drake and Della are real living beings in my consciousness. The digitised photographs are excellent. Thanks

Very nice site. Here in British Columbia there are still individuals who remember Raymond Burr quite fondly. There is a scene of Bill Hopper having one of his famous nic fits from not having his smokes that you can watch. It might be fun for your web site. It is from the outtakes from the Judy Garland Show that were on CBS while Bill was playing Paul Drake. It's on the first show with Mickey Rooney. CBS had hosted a party for Judy at the opening and encouraged many of its players from the 1963-64 season to be in the studio audience. Judy opened the show wearing a white pantsuit and long jacket singing a song entitled "Sunny Side Up". Bill Hopper is in the audience and they shoot the show. It usually took two or three hours to shoot. Judy then closed her first show (wearing a short black dress)singing "Old Man River" and then sings her closing song of "Maybe I'll Come Back". The reaction from the audience was very positive and Judy was clearly more relaxed at the end of the show than she was in the beginning. George, the director then asked the celebrity studio audience to please remain seated as they wanted to reshoot the opening number "Sunny Side Up" with Judy (clearly more relaxed) but wearing the short black dress. It took about an additional twenty minutes and there is a very, very long shot of the audience clapping for Judy at the end of the song. There is a long picture of Bill, who by this time had gone over an hour without a Newport cigarette and he is massaging his hands into a fair thee well. Also in the audience is Rose Marie from Dick Van Dyke Show, Irene Ryan from Hillbillies (sans Granny Clampet dress) and Richard Deacon from Dick Van Dyke, among others. To see it you will need to get a copy of the Garland show that has the BONUS CLIPS from Show #1. That is where you will find it. Happy hunting. You don't have spell check on this. I hope I haven't made an error. MKS

Miss X, Ran across a photo of Bill Hopper with a beard--don't know if you've found anything like that as yet. It's in a book called ILLUSTRATED ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CHARACTER ACTORS. If you are intetersted, drop me a note and I'll try to take a digital picture of it and send it to you...

Miss X, You have been busy--and it's a wonderful thing to behold! DEAD RINGER is definitely an inspired late episode. For another good late episode w/lots of Paul footage, permit me to recommend SAUSALITO SUNRISE--the truck driving sequences are a hoot! Loved that video cap with John Anderson, too! More of those little gems, please!!!

You have the besrt selection of Paul Drake photos I've ever found on the web. I'm 19 and I'm like the only one of my age group that religiously watches Perry Mason and salivates at the concept of an original Earl Stanley Gardner novel. I know it's probably unhealthy, but I could have a worse obsessio that Paul, right. Anyway, I enjoyed your website and got some cool pics. I have a desktop making hobby and some of these will make cool ones! (Don't worry i'm not selling your pics! It's just for my comp.) Anyway thanks for having such a cool site!

GREAT WEBSITE!!!! Also enjoy your posts on the Perry Mason BB. By the way, although TCOT Restless Redhead was the First episode broadcast, it WAS NOT the Pilot episode. That is TCOT Moth Eaten Mink, which was filmed in October, 1956---14 months before it was broadcast.

Wonderful set of sites! Enjoyed your work/viewpoint on art/life and the connections/disconnections therein. Let me cast my vote for TCOT Jaded Joker as a boffo "beatnik" Perry. I'd vote for the second season being the zenith of the show, when the actors had become really comfortable in their roles and the writers stretched things a bit.

Your whole site is absolutely great. I actually searched for information on mr William Hopper ;-), and I'm very glad to have stumbled upon such a remarkable place built by a remarkable person. ...Do you like Jean Marais as well? He was the main inspiration to Cocteau, and he was truly black-and-white-glamourous... Well, if you feel like talking about something, find me :) Good luck!
